Allied Health Service Information

Allied Health Services consist of Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Allied Health Assistant's. These services are offered to Alpine Health residents and inpatients, with a limited, follow-up outpatient service as part of being discharged from an acute service.

The services aim to increases the level of safety and independence of the clients, with an emphasis on their functional activities of daily life.

Treatment goals are developed with the client, unit medical staff and carers where appropriate.

The Occupational Therapist assists individuals to maximize their independence, enabling them to complete activities that are important to them within their home, work or in the general community.

The Physiotherapy provides treatment and rehabilitation for all muscular, skeletal, sport injuries and back pain. In addition, the Physiotherapist provides people with assessment & treatment for movement disorders & mobility problems. This may include guidance in the selection of suitable aids and appliances to assist with mobility and rehabilitation.

The Allied Health Assistant's provides client care as devised in clients' treatment plans by the Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist or dietician.

Local and Regional Community Support Services are frequently used.

Dietetic Service

The Alpine Health Dietitian works  throughout the Alpine region in a variety of settings including hospitals, General Practice Clinics, and the  community.

The following services are provided:

  • GP Clinic Dietitian appointments: An Accredited Practicing Dietitian is available by appointment in the General Practice (GP) clinics in Bright, Myrtleford and Mount Beauty. Appointments are available for both individual and family consultations. To enquire about appointments with the Dietitian please contact the relevant GP clinic.   • Individual appointments during hospital admission as required
  • Appointments to residents of the Alpine Health Aged Care facilities as required
  • Health promotion activities such as talks to community groups and shopping tours
  • Alpine Health menu advice to help ensure food provided is healthy, nutritious and varied
