Taking Control Of Diabetes

'Taking Control of Diabetes' is a lifestyle modification program to help you manage your diabetes. The program focuses on maintaining a healthy diet, getting regular exercise and monitoring your blood glucose levels to assist with keeping blood glucose levels as close to the target range as possible, helping prevent both short-term and long-term complications.


What we do

Taking control of diabetes is a six week program education and activity program aimed to assist you to better manage your diabetes.

Each session contains 1 hour of physical activity guided by an exercise physiologist and supported by the diabetes educator and 1 hour of education. Topics include:

  • What is Type 2 diabetes? 
  • How to stay well
  • Benefits of exercise
  • How healthy food choices can help

Who we help

The service is open to people who have been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes.
