Hume Local Health Service Network

Victoria’s 12 Local Health Service Networks were established on 1 July 2025 to help health services work together and provide more coordinated care closer to home.

The Networks support health services to:

  • Meet community healthcare needs locally where possible
  • Improve access to consistent, high-quality care
  • Strengthen workforce recruitment and support
  • Deliver shared services more efficiently

By working together, health services can better coordinate your care, connect you with specialist services when needed, and support your recovery closer to home.

Alpine Health is a part of the Hume Local Health Service Network. Our Network is made up of the following health services - Albury Wodonga Health, Alpine Health, Beechworth Health Service, Benalla Health, Corryong Health, Goulburn Valley Health, Kyabram District Health Service, Mansfield District Hospital, NCN Health, Northeast Health Wangaratta, Tallangatta Health Service, Yarrawonga Health

More information about the Networks can be found on the Department of Health website

Hume Local Health Service Network in Action

In 2026, Alpine Health strengthened its day procedures service at Mount Beauty Hospital through an expanded partnership model with Albury Wodonga Health and Northeast Health Wangaratta.

This integrated service brings together visiting specialists across endoscopy, general surgery and orthopaedics, supported by Alpine Health’s local clinical workforce, to deliver safe, coordinated care within a rural setting.

The model reflects a place-based approach to service delivery, improving access for Alpine Shire residents by reducing the need to travel outside the region for appropriate low-risk procedures. It

demonstrates the value of networked service planning and collaborative workforce models in strengthening rural healthcare access.

This initiative aligns with Hume LHSN priorities to deliver more care closer to home, improve system integration, and enhance equity of access across rural communities.

Alpine Health has strengthened its partnership with the Hume Region Health Alliance (HRHA) through the transition of its Information Technology (IT) services to a shared regional support model.

Through this arrangement, Alpine Health now accesses specialist ICT expertise, service desk support, cybersecurity capability, infrastructure management and digital project support through HRHA, improving the resilience and sustainability of its technology services.

The shared service model reduces duplication, provides access to a broader pool of technical expertise, and supports a more consistent approach to digital systems and cybersecurity across participating health services. It also enables Alpine Health to focus local resources on delivering healthcare services while maintaining access to contemporary technology and support.

This initiative demonstrates the benefits of regional collaboration and shared corporate services, supporting Hume Local Health Service Network priorities to strengthen system integration, improve operational sustainability and build digital capability across rural and regional health services.
