Over 35 people attended the Alpine Health Positive Ageing Expo in Myrtleford yesterday, underscoring the community's commitment to embracing a fulfilling and vibrant later stage of life. This event epitomized the essence of positive ageing, highlighting the significance of quality of life and overall well-being.

Care navigation is often raised as a challenge by community, and has been brought to the attention of Alpine Health’s Community and Health Advisory Group (CHAG). As a result Alpine Health hosted an enlightening presentation focused on services tailored to the needs of older individuals, featuring a lineup of Alpine Health speakers. Among them were Nick Shaw, the CEO, and Peter Burgess, the Acting Director of Healthy Communities, who provided valuable insights into the organization's commitment to enhancing the well-being of older adults. Paige Tuohey, the Healthy Communities Manager, shared expertise on initiatives promoting healthy living.  Annalee Gardam, the Acting Healthy Ageing Manager, highlighted support services for empowering older adults to live fulfilling lives. Additionally, Kelly Barton, the Acting Director of Clinical Operations in Myrtleford and Infection Control Officer, emphasized the importance of access to quality residential aged care and the importance of COVID-19 and influenza vaccinations as we come into winter. Together, their presentations underscored Alpine Health's dedication to supporting older individuals in ageing well and thriving within their communities. CHAG volunteers worked closely with staff to ensure the Expo content and format was consumer-friendly.

Alpine Health, as a cornerstone of support in the region, offers a diverse range of services specifically designed to foster positive ageing. From assistance with daily tasks to promoting social connections and providing access to essential healthcare resources, Alpine Health caters to the holistic needs of older adults. By attending events like the Positive Ageing Expo and understanding the breadth of services available, community members can proactively engage with Alpine Health to ensure they receive the right support at the right time, enabling them to age well and thrive within their communities.
