Day Surgeries

Alpine Health provides a range of surgeries at our Mount Beauty Hospital.

We do this in partnership with Albury Wodonga Health Surgical Services, working together to deliver high-quality care close to home.

Alpine Health is part of the Hume Local Health Service Network, which helps us connect local people with coordinated and accessible healthcare.

These services are delivered by experienced visiting surgeons who are approved by our medical committee and supported by our skilled team.

Local Access for Alpine Shire Residents

Alpine Health has a postcode preference agreement with Albury Wodonga Health. This means people who live in the Alpine Shire are given first preference for surgery appointments at Mount Beauty.

If you would like your surgery to be done at Alpine Health, ask your GP to refer you to the Albury Wodonga Health public surgery list or directly to one of the following surgeons:

  • Mr Adam Skidmore
  • Mr Quinton Smith
  • Dr Sara Clark
  • Dr Michelle Larkin
  • Mr Daniel McIlroy

Theatre services are run on Tuesdays in Mount Beauty.

Public or Private – Your Choice

You can choose to be treated as a public or private patient. There are no extra out-of-pocket costs, no matter which option you choose.

Types of Procedures We Offer

Some of the common day surgeries we provide include:

  • Endoscopies – such as colonoscopies and gastroscopies
  • Local anaesthetic procedures requiring sedation – such as skin lesion removal and skin grafts
  • Minor surgeries – like hernia repair, carpal tunnel release, haemorrhoid treatment, and vasectomy

Note: If your BMI is 40 or over surgery at Alpine Health may not be the right option for you.

After Your Surgery

Most people go home the same day. Our team will call you to check your recovery and help with any questions.

If you need to stay overnight for any reason, you’ll be transferred to our Acute Ward for further care.
