About the Community Care Services at Alpine Health

Alpine Health delivers Community Services across both the Alpine and Indigo Shires under the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP), through the provision of home care packages (in home service), a focus on health promotion through the Early Intervention Program, and the provision of district nursing across the Alpine community.

The Community Care Service review was required due to;
  • The growth of the home care services program and increased need within the community for home based care.
  • Changes by Federal Government of the introduction of the Support at Home Program in July 2023, incorporating the existing service models (CHSP, package care, NDIS support, amongst others) in a single model of consumer controlled care.
  • The findings from the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety, and blue print for the quality and sustainability of community based health care.
  • The growing difficulty experienced in sustaining the care workforce due to casual employment contracts with sessional / care episode based remuneration for care staff, supported by an administrative workforce with contracts of fixed term employment aligned to the periods of funding.
