Maternity & Newborn Services

Having a baby?

Alpine Health supports people in the Alpine communities with free pregnancy (before birth) and postnatal (after birth) services, to help you on your pregnancy and parenting journey. 

Our small team of caring and skilled health professionals include local midwives and GP Obstetricians, who work together with you and your birthing hospital.

Alpine Health is a Level 1 Service and is well prepared for fast unplanned births at each of our three Urgent Care sites in Bright, Myrtleford and Mt Beauty, but we do not provide planned birthing services.

Before your baby is born

Accessible, local and personal shared care offered by Alpine midwives and GP Obstetrician’s.

Clinics run every Thursday at Myrtleford Hospital Southern Consulting Rooms

Our face to face classes aim to increase confidence about labour, birth and early parenting.

Classes include information on; pregnancy, labour, managing pain, and birth, feeding and caring for your baby and parenting in the early weeks

Costs: Free Classes (2 x 3hr sessions)

Classes are held in Myrtleford, Bright and Mt Beauty.

After your baby is born

You will be referred to our care by your birthing service.

A local midwife will visit your home during the week following birth, to provide postnatal care for you and your baby. This can include feeding support and referral to other healthcare providers if required. The number of visits depends on the needs of you and your baby.

Alpine Health guide and support you, as you start and navigate your breastfeeding journey.
