Alpine Health recieves almost $934,000 to upgrade its hospital facilities

11 October 2021

Alpine Health has received almost $934,000 to upgrade its hospital facilities through Round 5 of the Rural Health Infrastructure Fund (RHIF), a State government initiative that focuses on rural and regional communities being able to access high quality care no matter where they live.

Nearly 80 rural and regional hospitals, community health services and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations will share in $120 million from the Regional Health Infrastructure Fund (RHIF) – creating hundreds of jobs.

The program will deliver a variety of projects across regional Victoria including operating theatre refurbishments, new waiting rooms and hospital beds, accessible paths and ramps, additional consulting rooms, expansions projects and equipment upgrades.

At Alpine Health, the funding will be used to progress three key projects;

  • Nurse Call Systems - This project will replace obsolete nurse call systems in all patient and resident areas at Myrtleford, Bright and Mount Beauty
  • Theatre Upgrades - Upgrade air systems at Mount Beauty and Bright, install endoscopic drying cabinets for day surgery procedural rooms
  • Bright Aged Care Redevelopment Planning Project  - funding support for the feasibility and business case planning to meet the residential aged care needs of the Bright community

Nick Shaw, Alpine Health CEO said “ We are very pleased to receive this level of funding and are excited to progress these three important projects for Alpine Health and our Alpine communities. Continuing to invest in our local hospitals and services allows us to provide local services for local people.”

Minister for Health Martin Foley said “Every Victorian deserves access to high quality, safe care when they need it – we’re supporting rural and regional health services to do just that while creating hundreds of jobs.”
