Alpine Health’s commitment to Gender Equality

18 July 2022

Alpine Health is pleased to announce that its first Gender Equality Action Plan (GEAP) has been approved with no changes by the Gender Equality Commission, a step forward for gender equality across the organisation.

The GEAP affirms our commitment to be respected and trusted as a leading Health Service and employer of choice, for an equitable workplace that reflects the Alpine and Indigo communities.

The GEAP is underpinned by the Gender Equality Act 2020 (the Act), which strives to improve workplace gender equality in the Victorian public sector.

Nick Shaw, Alpine Health CEO said “Gender equality, diversity and inclusion add value to our Health Service and broader regional communities: they support higher performance, deliver stronger outcomes, and help us build better community. Through equality, our Health Service will bring about significant economic, social and health benefits to our community, we will reduce family violence and other forms of violence in our community and redress the historical discrimination and disadvantage that women and non-binary people have experienced on the basis of their sex, gender, age, disability, ethnicity, indigeneity, ability, sexual orientation, religion, identify and race.”

“I’m proud that this important document has been developed to lead us towards an equitable workplace” he said.

Over the next four years, Alpine Health will roll out a program of changes and the GEAP will guide our goal of making everyone able to access the same opportunities, resources and rewards, regardless of gender.
