Major construction works to aged care facilities in Myrtleford and Mount Beauty are underway.

8 February 2023

Major construction works have commenced this week in Barwidgee Lodge, with the construction of 4 private ensuite bathrooms in B wing

Alpine Health received $600,000 from a Commonwealth Multi-Purpose Minor Capital Grant in February 2022, to improve the quality of aged care services through the removal of shared bathrooms in our aged care facilities at Barwidgee Lodge in Myrtleford and Kiewa Valley House in Mount Beauty.

“The project will have a major impact on improving the resident care experience and we’d like to thank the Commonwealth for helping us make a positive difference to the health and wellbeing of our residents” said Nick Shaw CEO, Alpine Health.

The Barwidgee Lodge part of the project is expected to take approximately 3 months, with the Kiewa Valley House bathroom renovations expected to commence in May 2023.

Strategies are in place to ensure minimal disruption to residents however there may be some dust and it may be prudent for those that are immune compromised, to wear P2/N95 masks when approaching and leaving the Myrtleford site. The outdoor construction area will be fenced off for health and safety purposes. There will be no lane way access beyond the Myrtleford Men’s Shed at the rear of Barwidgee Lodge.

Note: The Commonwealth Multi-Purpose Minor Capital Grant Opportunity funding is separate to any funding for the Bright Health Precinct Redevelopment.
