Alpine Health to continue key allied health programs

20 May 2026

Alpine Health has confirmed it will continue delivering a range of key allied health services, following an unsuccessful outcome in recent funding applications with the Murray Primary Health Network (PHN).

While PHN funding beyond 30 June 2026 will not continue, Alpine Health has committed to funding these programs itself to ensure there is no disruption to care for the community. This includes the Pulmonary and Cardiac Exercise & Education (PACE) Program, Diabetes Education and Dietitian services.

These programs play an important role in supporting people across the Alpine Shire to manage chronic conditions, stay well and remain independent, close to home.

Introduced in 2018, the PACE Program has supported more than 1,000 people living with heart and lung conditions. Alongside Diabetes Education and Dietitian services, the programs provide practical support, education and care that help people better understand and manage their health.

Chief Executive Officer Cameron Butler said the decision reflects Alpine Health’s commitment to maintaining access to essential services for the community.

“We know how important these programs are for the people we care for, and we are committed to making sure they continue,” he said.

“These services support people to stay well, manage their health and avoid unnecessary hospital visits, all while remaining close to home.”

The programs are delivered through strong local partnerships, including Equilibre Health, Kiewa Valley Sports and Spinal Physiotherapy, and Ovens Valley Physio and Pilates, bringing together local expertise to provide accessible, high-quality care.

Alpine Health acknowledges the Murray PHN for its support since 2018, which enabled these programs to be established and grow to meet local need.

Alpine Health is committed to caring for our community and making sure people can access the support they need, close to home.
