Alpine Health, Gateway Health and Alpine Shire Council as part of the Active Alpine Group and in partnership with the Bright Lions Club and the Rotary Club of Myrtleford have received a $301,000 grant under the Bushfire Recovery Local Community Grants Program to support the installation and sustainability of Outdoor Fitness Equipment in the Alpine Shire.

The Local Community Projects Grants, jointly funded by the Victorian Government and Commonwealth Government under the Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements, fund local projects that contribute to economic, social, infrastructural, or environmental recovery of communities most heavily impacted by the 2019-20 Victorian bushfires. These projects build a sense of community pride and connectedness, supporting the critical role communities play in leading their own recovery.

About the Outdoor Fitness Equipment

The two sites for Outdoor Fitness Equipment installation are Riverside Park in Porepunkah and Apex Park in Myrtleford. The installation will increase and promote opportunities to be active and in turn enhance health and wellbeing, build resilience and social connection for a healthy, thriving community within the Alpine Shire. The placement of the equipment at Porepunkah and Myrtleford means community members across the shire will have the opportunity to access equipment as Tawonga, Mt Beauty and Harrietville have already received grants and installed Outdoor Fitness Equipment.

The equipment chosen by an accredited exercise physiologist along with feedback from community consultation will provide a wide range pf equipment suitable for all abilities.
